FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Steam hardware restocks, our tracker, and how to get alerts.

1 About Restocks

When is the next Steam hardware restock?

Nobody knows. Valve doesn't announce restocks in advance and there's no predictable schedule. Drops can happen multiple times a week or not for weeks — it's completely random. That's exactly why this tracker exists: we monitor the Steam Store in near real-time so you don't have to.

How often do restocks happen?

There's no fixed pattern. Restock frequency varies by product and region. The Steam Controller is extremely rare — it might appear once every few months. Steam Deck models restock more frequently but unpredictably. The Docking Station tends to be the most consistently available. Your best bet is to set up Telegram alerts so you're notified the moment stock appears.

How fast do restocks sell out?

It depends on the product:

  • Steam Controller — Can sell out in under 5 minutes. Extremely high demand, very limited supply.
  • Steam Deck OLED — Typically lasts a few hours in most regions, sometimes less in popular ones.
  • Steam Deck 256GB — Usually stays available longer, sometimes for days.
  • Docking Station — Often remains in stock for extended periods.
Is the Steam Controller still being made?

Valve discontinued the original Steam Controller in 2019, but periodically releases remaining inventory. These restocks are extremely rare and unpredictable. When they happen, units sell out within minutes due to collector demand and the controller's cult following.

What about Steam Machine and Steam Frame?

These are upcoming Valve hardware products that haven't launched yet. We show them as "Coming Soon" on our dashboard. Once they become available for purchase, we'll add full stock tracking with alerts.

2 Regions & Purchasing

Which regions do you track?

We track 21 countries across 4 major regions:

  • North America: United States, Canada
  • Europe: Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Poland, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Portugal, Czech Republic, Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria
  • United Kingdom
  • Oceania: Australia
Can I buy from a different region than my account?

No. Steam requires your payment method to match your account region. Your Steam account country is determined by your payment method's billing address. Even if you see stock in another region, you won't be able to complete checkout unless your account is registered there.

Can I use a VPN to buy from another region?

This is against Steam's Terms of Service. Valve actively detects and blocks VPN usage for purchases. Your account could be restricted or banned. We strongly advise against it — focus on your own region and use alerts to catch restocks the moment they happen.

Can I change my Steam account region?

Yes, but it requires a valid payment method issued in the new country. You can't simply change a setting — you need a credit card, debit card, or other payment method from a bank in that country. Steam also limits how often you can change regions.

Does Valve ship internationally?

No. Valve only ships hardware to addresses within supported countries. You cannot order to a US address if your account is in Europe, and vice versa. Some people use mail forwarding services, but this adds cost and complexity.

3 About the Tracker

How does the tracker work?

We use Valve's official Steam Store API to check stock status. We query all 21 regions in near real-time and compare the results against the previous check. When a product's availability changes (out of stock → in stock), we immediately send a Telegram alert to subscribers.

How often does the website update?

The public dashboard refreshes every 4 minutes. This is the free tier — it shows the same data as our real-time system, just on a slower cycle. Paid Telegram subscribers get alerts within seconds of a stock change.

Is this affiliated with Valve or Steam?

No. We're an independent service that uses Valve's public API to track hardware availability. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Valve Corporation or Steam.

How accurate is the data?

Very accurate. We pull data directly from the same API that powers the Steam Store. The status you see on our site reflects what Steam's servers report. The only delay is our polling interval (near real-time for alerts, 4 minutes for the website).

What does "Status Since" mean?

It shows when the current stock status was first detected. For example, if a product shows "Out of Stock" with "Status Since: 3d ago", it means we detected it going out of stock 3 days ago. This helps you gauge how long a product has been unavailable.

4 Telegram Alerts

How do I get notified when something is in stock?

Subscribe to our private Telegram channel through Tribute. You'll get instant push notifications the moment any Steam hardware comes back in stock — for all 5 products across all 21 regions. No configuration needed.

How fast are the alerts?

Our system checks in near real-time. When a stock change is detected, the Telegram message is sent within seconds. In practice, you'll receive an alert almost immediately after a restock appearing on Steam's servers.

Can I filter alerts by region or product?

Currently, alerts cover all products and all regions. We're considering adding filtered alerts in the future. For now, the messages clearly indicate which product and region restocked, so you can quickly identify what's relevant to you.

Why Telegram and not Discord/email?

Telegram push notifications are the fastest and most reliable way to reach your phone. They arrive instantly, work across all platforms, and don't get buried in spam folders like email. Discord is great for communities, but Telegram's notification system is more immediate for time-critical alerts.

Will I get spammed with notifications?

No. You only receive alerts when stock status actually changes — specifically when a product goes from "out of stock" to "in stock". On quiet days with no restocks, you won't receive any messages. On active days, you might get a handful of alerts.

5 Pricing & Subscription

How much does it cost?

The Telegram alert subscription costs $3/month. The public website with stock status is completely free — you can check it anytime without paying.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes, absolutely. There's no contract or commitment. You can cancel your subscription at any time directly through the Tribute app or Telegram. Your access continues until the end of your current billing period.

How does payment work?

Payment is handled securely through Tribute, a platform designed for Telegram channel subscriptions. They accept major credit cards and other payment methods. We never see or store your payment details.

Why isn't it free?

Running infrastructure that checks 21 regions in near real-time, 24/7, costs money. We use AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, and CloudFront to ensure reliability and speed. The $3/month subscription covers these operational costs and keeps the service running without ads or data selling.

Is there a free trial?

There's no trial for the Telegram alerts, but the public website is free and shows the same stock data (just on a 4-minute refresh cycle instead of real-time). You can use the website to verify the service works before subscribing.
